Panetta Says Deeper Defense Cuts Would Push Size Of Ground Force To 1940 Level -- Washington Post/AP

WASHINGTON — Defense Secretary Leon Panetta is painting a dire picture of deeper defense cuts: the smallest number of ground forces since 1940, the smallest number of ships since 1915, the smallest Air Force ever.
